Today I was in a public washroom and I heard a phone ring in the stall next to me. The woman was in mid-stream, answering a call from someone and loudly ordering the insubordinate caller around as to where to find some video game her kid needed for Christmas or he was going to be DEVASTATED and that's not even the half of it. Her Blackberry rang while she was 'on the other line (and the can) and she said "hang on a minute, I gotta take this call".
WHAT? Are you kidding me?
First, there is the personal wellness issue of taking the time for peeing without interuption. Just because its a public bathroom doesn't mean it shouldn't be a private moment.
Secondly, there is a reason why those phones cost so much and have such wonderful clarity - you can hear people peeing and flushing of industrial toilets all around her - she's not fooling anyone as to where she is.
Finally, THIS IS WHERE IT GETS UGLY.
I am tired of having to listen to everyone's conversations while they shout I. CAN'T. HEAR. YOU! in public places (well, everyone can hear YOU just fine, asshole), wandering around the mall banging into everyone because they are too busy talking on the phone, interupting you, a real live person mid - sentence to take a call from someone who is not there, cutting people off in traffic because they aren't paying attention to the road.
I hear alot about how people are unfulfilled, unsatisfied these days. They want "more" out of life, and its a mystery why it seems like the harder they work and the more stuff they get the hungrier they are for "more".
If everyone stopped trying to do 10 things at once and just enjoyed what they were doing, they might realize that you get someone's full attention when you give your full attention to them. You get long lasting results when you make long lasting committments and its not about having alot or the biggest or top of the line things, its about having the RIGHT thing.
YOU CAN'T PUT A PENNY IN AND EXPECT A DOLLAR BACK.
It can't just be me who feels this way.
